Purpose of chair leg, armrest, pillow tester equipment:

Static load test of foot rail/foot support, leg support:

Use a small seat loading pad to apply a specific load force to the most vulnerable part of the periphery 80mm above the center line of the foot support, leg support or foot rail. Apply force 10 times in total.

When the specimen tends to tip over, reduce the load force to just prevent the specimen from tipping over. And record the actual force applied.

After the test, check the overall structure of the specimen, record and evaluate.

Lateral static load test of armrests and pillows

Apply a pair of forces specified in the table outward 10 times on the most vulnerable parts of the two armrests through a small seat loading pad. Each load should be maintained at the loading position for at least 10s. If the chair is equipped with pillows (i.e., two lateral components on the upper part of the armchair for the seated head to rest), the force specified in the table should also be applied to the two pillows.

After the test, check the overall structure of the sample, record and evaluate.

4.6 Vertical downward static load test of armrest

Apply the force specified in the table through a small seat loading pad to the most vulnerable part of the armrest 10 times. Each load should be maintained at the loading position for at least 10 seconds. If the chair tip over during loading, place an appropriate amount of balancing load on the seat surface of the unloaded armrest to prevent the chair from tipping over.

After the test, check the overall structure of the sample, record and evaluate.

Note: The combined force of the horizontal load and the vertical load can be used to combine the lateral static load test of the armrest and the vertical downward static load test into one test.
